By Hannah Norman Since the start of Lizzo's (Melissa Jefferson's) sudden jump to fame in 2019 and 2020 in the music industry, the California-based singer-slash-rapper has been a strong advocate for healthy living and recognizing beauty in every type of body. She has inspired women across the world to live to be the best version of themselves while maintaining their confidence, and her music has been a catalyst in bringing the conversation about Body Positivity to the music industry. "Your body is perfectly yours, even if it aint perfect to anybody else," she said while playing the flute (a talent she has become known for). "If you only knew the complexities your body possesses, you would be so proud of it. I'm so proud of you for making it this far in a society that gives us a head start into self-loathing, that hands us a dysmorphic mirror and leaves us desperate to catch up to who we think we should be. I've spent so much time in this body and I am no different than you, -- still struggling to find balance, to mend my relationship with food, my anxiety, my back fat. It get's easier. I've spent the hardest days trying to love me." While Lizzo has been a continuous voice for body positivity, she revealed in VOGUE this year that she worries that the commercialized d empowerment of the movement may leave girls out who are meant to be included. "I think it’s lazy for me to just say I’m body positive at this point. It’s easy. I would like to be body-normative," she said. "I want to normalize my body." Lizzo is well known for her platinum "Truth Hurts" and "Good as Hell".

The rising rap artist broke many systematic barriers being a Black woman in a male-dominated industry. As our campaign highlights important women in different careers, Megan can be the leader for many young girls who want to freely express themselves without looking back! Background Megan Pete was born in San Antonio on February 15, 1995 but raised in Houston, Texas after her mother Holly Aleece Thomas. Her mother Holly was a DC rapper and would take young Megan to her studio sessions instead of daycare. Megan began writing raps when she was 16 years old but her mother wanted her to wait until she was 21 years old due to explicit language. Megan went to Pairie View A&M University to study Hospitality Administration. During her college years, she posts freestyles and cyphers on her social media which went viral. She garnered fans on her Instagram and refers to her fans as "hotties" to credit her fans for her early success. Accomplishments Megan started off with Soundcloud-exclusive mixtapes but didn't sign into a record label until 2018. That year in June, Megan came out with an extended play titled Tina Snow to break the stigma and easily rap about her sexuality. Her single in the EP titled "Big Ole Freak" charted at No.9 on the Billboard Top 100, giving Megan her first chart entry. Then on May 17, 2019 Megan came out with "Fever" as her second mixtape where she perfectly executes bars like a fully automatic machine gun. During 2019, she starts to hit charts, praised by music critics and asked for features or deals with many other big artists, movie directors, TV shows, etc. During 2020, Megan Thee Stallion started to become a popular star where people recognize her just by her name. On March 6, she came out with an EP titled "Suga" and too long after came out with her first album titled "Good News". Megan also received four nominations for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. She won three of them including Best Rap Performance, Best Rap song for her "Savage" remix and also Best 2021 New Artist. Throughout her successful career at the age of 26, she is not only considered a rapper but an entertainer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. During her rap career, Megan established herself through phases that became her trademarks. She proposes herself and her artistry as confident, sensuality and explicit lyrics. She promotes body positivity due to her natural thick figure along with many topics that come with being an African American female in America. "But you know what? I'm not afraid of criticism," Megan said on the New York Times. "We deserve to be protected as human beings. And we are entitled to our anger about a laundry list of mistreatment and neglect that we suffer." Kristin by AspenKristin Cavallari. A Queen.
